Sheoaks pruned, canopies reduced

There are 574 Sheoaks planted on the nature strips in the Sands Estate. Originally when the Sands Estate was being developed the landscape architects recommended the Sheoak because it was iconic to the area and the native birdlife loves them. Love them or hate them they certainly give the Sands Estate some of its character.

Last month Acorn Tree Services spent four days pruning all the Sheoaks in the Sands Estate. The pruning  was possible without effecting the health of the tree and reduced the canopy in the nut bearing Sheoaks. About three large truck loads of chipped cuttings were removed, most of which is now stored in the maintenance sheds for use as mulch around the Sands Estate.
